Martin Zelder

Martin Zelder is Director of Health Policy Research at The Fraser Institute. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago, where he wrote his dissertation on no-fault divorce law under the supervision of 1992 Nobel Laureate Gary S. Becker. He has held faculty positions as assistant professor of Law and Economics at the College of William and Mary, and lecturer in Economics at the Australian National University as well as visiting positions at Northwestern University School of Law, and, in Economics, at Michigan State University. In addition to articles on health care reform and other policy topics, which have appeared in Fraser Forum and many Canadian newspapers including the National Post, the Ottawa Citizen, and the Calgary Herald, Martin Zelder has published academic articles on the Coase Theorem, the economics of divorce, and the economics of sex. He has also written unpublished papers on the economics of adoption, suicide, and altruism.
