MEDIA RELEASE
VANCOUVER, B.C. > > > Five Ontario residents have been selected by one of Canada's most respected think tanks to participate in the annual Student Leaders' Colloquium, May 12-15, 1995 - a program designed to explore solutions to Canada's social and economic problems. The Fraser Institute announced today that Ms. Cherie Cohen, Mr. Michael Demczur, and Mr. Matthew Vadum of Toronto, Ms. Kathleen Tilley of Kingston, and Mr. John Vieira of Mississauga have been selected from Queen's University, University of Toronto, and York University to convene with 15 other Canadian students for a weekend long program of discussion and deliberation about the pressing economic policy questions of our time. The twenty students were chosen for their leadership and communication abilities. The Vancouver meeting, sponsored in part by Canadian Airlines International, is the culmination of a year long program of discussions which the Institute has hosted in Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary and Montreal involving over 725 students.
"These students, having been identified as some of the brightest in the country," said Dr. Michael Walker, Executive Director of the Fraser Institute, "will spend two days in an exploration of ideas with other students from across the country. The Institute's aim is to focus their minds on economic policy issues so that they are prepared to deal with the challenges they may have to face as the policy makers of tomorrow."
