Student Programs Update

Congratulations to the following students, who were granted Liberty Fund Scholarships to attend the 1999 Mont Pèlerin Society Regional Meeting, hosted by The Fraser Institute and held in Vancouver August 29th to September 1st, 1999: Jane Barrett, John S. Barry, Jason Brooks, Thomas C. Dawson III, Shanna Follansbee, Naseem Hrab, Neil Hrab, Roy Hrab, Elizabeth Kalbfleisch, Phaedra Kaptein-Russell, Gwang-Soog (Sookee) Kee, Marc Law, Juan Carlos Madrigal, David C. Martinez-Amador, Maria Pia Paganelli, Pedram Panahi, Steve Salinger, Chris Schafer, Eli Schuster, and Craig Yirush. These students were able to attend the proceedings of this international event and to interact with esteemed scholars from around the world.

At this meeting, The Whistler Society was launched. With hopes that this society will resemble a "Mont Pèlerin Youth Society," the founding members have created a forum to encourage intellectual discourse and collaboration among young classical liberal scholars. These youth plan to have the society fully established by the end of 1999 and will hold their inaugural meeting next year.
