"How Can Privacy be Protected in the New Digital Age?"

Recommendations:

Essay topics may range from a discussion of encryption laws, to privacy on the internet, to government initiatives to protect privacy, to the right to private financial transactions, to copyright law in the new digital age, and to digital surveillance technology, et cetera.

Application Rules:

  • Submissions will be considered from high school, undergraduate or graduate students in all disciplines.
  • Articles should be submitted in the following form: a typed essay of approximately 1,000-1,500 words.
  • Entry must include a cover sheet with the student’s name, mailing address and phone, date of birth, school, major, and year of graduation, along with four copies of the essay.
  • All entries become of the property of The Fraser Institute.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: JUNE 1, 2000

Entries will be judged on originality, expression of ideas, consideration of obstacles (if relevant), presentation, and understanding of competitive markets. In addition to receiving cash prizes, winners may have their essays published in Fraser Institute periodicals.
